Event description

Special guest

Our MPAnne Marie Morris will be attending on 13th July. She has expressed interest in the work we are doing to support dementia carers.

Newton Abbot area Dementia

Carer Network

This local network lets dementia carers discuss their issues and connect to others in a similar position. Do you need to feel more supported and less isolated?

Sharing your experiences will help others to understand the issues you face. There is support for the dementia carers in our community. Following its successful launch in April 2017,  sessions will generally run on the first Thursday of the month. Please check the events calendar to  confirm. July is 13th and there will not be one in September.

All welcome

Whether you are a current dementia carer or have previously cared for a person living with dementia, you will benefit from attending. It does not matter what the connection is or has been. Many people do not consider that they are, or were, carers, which usually means that thy have not had an opportunity to talk about it properly to anyone who would understand. Former carers are experts by experience and their contribution can help those caring today.

If you live near enough to come then you are very welcome.

Tea and coffee will be available on arrival. Feel free to bring your lunch with you if that helps.

Information and understanding

The sessions are primarily for the members to openly discuss their issues or concerns in a safe and supportive environment. Suggestions of topics you would like to know more about are very welcome.

Mary Sherwood

Mary will be your facilitator. A former carer for her mother who had Vascular Dementia, she has experience of running Dementia Carer Networks at the Met Office and Teignbridge District Council.

Do I need to book a place?

Booking helps us to plan the session. There is no charge for attending. Email or phone 07847507666.
